The Galaxy ended up their last season by losing in the MLS Cup Final in a shootout. Not the greatest way to lose but the fact that the Galaxy were in the final means that they had a pretty good season to begin with. A few things have changed since last season the most important probably being that their start mid-fielder, David Beckham, will probably be out most of the season with an injury and they will also be without Landon Donovan for a month or so due to the World Cup which is being played in South Africa. To top things off rumors are swirling that if Landon Donovan has a good World Cup that he may be headed over to play in Europe permanently...
In goal the Galaxy are solid this season with the return of Jamiacan international Donovan Ricketts. Rickettts recorded 9 clean shut outs last season as well as 2 shut outs in the playoffs.
Offensively the Galaxy should struggle a bit without David Beckham but that may not matter with the emergence of the Landon Donovan to Edson Buddle scoring combination. Personally I think Landon Donovan is playing the best soccer of his life and I think it'll be interesting to see how he does in South Africa.
